Mrs. Rosanne Carmichael

Bio: Mrs. Carmichael worked in a psychiatric institute for children, the Nebraska Psychiatric Institute and decided after years of working that the school was a safe place for kids. She made the executive decision to change careers and started teaching at North High School in 1980. After four years of teaching, she decided to take a year off after having her son. When Mrs. Carmichael went back to teaching she went to Northwest High School for three years. She then took off another year to stay home with her daughter. Mrs. Carmichael started back teaching at South High School for 10 more years. She decided to then make the change from High School to Junior High, where she has been teaching at Lewis and Clark for the past eight years. Mrs. Carmichael has a Bachelor's of Science in Special Education and a Master's in School Supervision and Administration from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Family: Mrs. Carmichaels husband Ron Diimig is the Assistant Superintendent at Council Bluffs Community schools. She has one son, 23 who is a manager at Jake's Cigar Bar and one daughter, 19 who is a freshman at Iowa State College.

Hobbies: Mrs. Carmichael loves to ride horses when she is not teaching. She is also a member of North Hills Hunt, which is a fox hunting organization. Mrs. Carmichael is also a closet painter just for fun!

Worthy Recognition: "Mrs. Rosanne Carmichael has taught in the Omaha Public Schools for 25 plus years in the area of special education. The majority of her teaching career has been at the high school level preparing students to be literary connoisseurs and expert writers. Mrs. Carmichael has spent the last eight years of her career at Lewis and Clark Middle School as a resource for students, parents and staff. Mrs. Carmichael is the special education department chair for Lewis and Clark as well as the contact for Safe Secure Disciplined Schools. Mrs. Carmichael goes out of her way to make sure that achievement is the priority in every classroom for every child.
